这款手套配有沿着手指延伸的纤薄传感器,由导电纱制成,它们能够检测手部动作和手指位置,每种动作可能代表字母、数字、单词甚至短语。这些信号随后被传输到佩戴者手腕处的一个方形电路板,然后通过无线传输到智能手机,并将这些动作转换为语音。

我们理解这种手套由于笨重和沉重,可能不适合用户每天佩戴。但是,拥有无限才华的听障学生不应因为语言的问题无法被同学和教授理解而被限制进入大学的机会,这种不公平需要被改变。

As mentioned with the huge existing population of the hearing disabled, correspondingly the number of sign language interpreters are relatively small. This is why our gloves are useful, translating sign language into speech in real time could soon be a reality.

Gloves with slim sensors of electrically conducting yarn that stretch along the fingers, the sensors detect the hand motions and finger placements that each might stand for letters, numbers, words or even phrases. These signals are then transmitted to a square-shaped circuit board located at the wearer's wrist, before these are transmitted wirelessly to a smartphone that translates the movement into an audio speech.

We do understand how this is not practical to be worn by the users every single day due to the bulkiness, heaviness that makes it uncomfortable. But the unfairness of the hearing impaired students with infinite talents to enter the University should not be constrained purely by not being understood by mates and professors.
